Ayurvedic massage is an ancient Indian method that combines deep-tissue massage with energy techniques, reflexology and meditation. It is designed to help restore a sense of serenity and balance to the mind, body and soul. Sometimes herbal supplements are prescribed to boost the body's immune system and help create feelings of wellbeing.
As I've mentioned before, I try to get a variety of people with different skin types to test the products to be reviewed here, so that it's not just about what works for me and my skin. The task of trialling the anti-aging treatments usually falls to my mother, who happily is a self-confessed guinea pig for new skin treats!
As the claims made by M-Lab for their anti-aging formulations were so spectacular, we were both a little in awe about how her skin would look. 
The newly hair-styled Victoria Beckham and husband David have been keeping a dirty little beauty secret. They both use and swear by a cream that contains bird poo! A devoted follower of fashion with a model figure, Victoria has gained our sympathy recently partly because of her well-publicised battle with her complexion over the years. 
Even with a strict cleanse, tone and moisturise routine plus the odd face mask, we all suffer from the occasional blemish. I'm not exactly sure what the universe is trying to tell me, but generally this always occurs for me before a date or important party. Even though most of us have been learning to conceal our spots now for at least a decade, it's always useful to get some expert advice. 
Whether you're suffering from adult acne or you just get the occasional spot — chances are you've had those bad face days, when a pesky blackhead made you want to retreat right back to the duvet.
The best way to get rid of blackheads is to remove the cause of them — excessive sebum or oil and dead skin cells. As I've said before, don't use anything overly harsh or too astringent, as your skin will only compensate by producing more oil. 
Not the most glamorous of topics for this week's glossary, I know, but let's face it (excuse the pun) we've all been there. Sufferers of adult acne, in particular, will know just how upsetting waking up and finding one of these babies nestling on your skin can be.
Blackheads are scientifically known as open comedones. 
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Dermalogica, and their new MediBac range is really fantastic to help clear up bouts of adult acne.
I regularly use the Overnight Clearing gel, (£34), on break-outs, or when I think my skin is getting greasy and clogged up. The clear gel is an overnight treatment, that you apply on freshly washed skin. I moisturise first, and then dot it onto blemishes, but you can also apply a thin layer all over the skin (and skip the moisturiser if you have very greasy skin).
Clinical studies indicate that between 40 and 55% of the adult population aged 20 – 40 are diagnosed with a low grade, persistent acne and oily skin. No longer just a teen concern, over the last few years adult acne has become a hot topic for the beauty industry. It's now acknowledged as a common skin disorder which is often more persistent than the teen version. 
While it might be fun to re-work the trends we rocked as teenagers, teaming them with acne-ridden skin should surely be a thing of the past. But adult acne is one of the most hotly debated topics in the beauty industry right now – clinical studies indicate that between 40-55% of adults age 20-40 are diagnosed with a low grade, persistent acne and oily skin.
As someone who was enviably spot-free in her teenage years, only to break out when I hit 25, I can sympathise. 
Thou shalt drink plenty of water is the beauty commandment that I most fervently believe in. Making sure you get at least two litres a day is such an easy way to rehydrate your skin and flush out toxins. Ok, so the scientific proof is somewhat on the scant side – but it's just about every models' top beauty tip and it does seem to work.
