On Our Radar: Peter Jensen For Topshop

Peter Jensen is just one of the designers currently collaborating with High Street giant Topshop. His brightly coloured collection is right on time as it includes eye-catching dresses for the party season!

Peter's capsule range includes bright coloured prom dresses with scalloped hem and tiered colour bands. If the two bright dresses are too much for you then what about the gown with coloured trim?

The collaboration has also offered a stylish answer to rainy days (which we seem to be experiencing a lot of recently). The rain mac (£120) will certainly lighten up a grey winter day. Even though the prices are slightly higher than Topshop's standard range the dresses are really nice and a bargain compared to Jensen's main range. I'm still lusting after the ear hat. On Our Radar: Kate Moss Launches Christmas Line

This morning saw the launch of another Kate Moss for Topshop line (the seventh) which is her Christmas collection including plenty of uber-short party dresses. The model turned designer posed in the items herself, these range from a breton t-shirt to brocade trousers to a prom dress.

In addition to the pieces that we already knew about there is also a typical Kate Moss leather jacket, a spotty dress (£60) (similar to a piece from the Summer line) and a 'Love' t-shirt (£22). There is also a limited edition range (with a slightly higher price point) which includes sequinned dresses, a military jacket (£120) and maxi ball gowns (£120).

Animal prints seem to be everywhere at the moment. From Louis Vuitton scarves to cute shoes it seems you can't escape it. Topshop just added this vintage style leopard print coat (£85) to it's online store. It's slightly oversized with Princess sleeves and chunky buttons. I can imagine Kate Moss pulling off a jacket like this, but then she can wear anything! What do you think of the coat; do you love it or hate it?

On Our Radar: Kate Moss for Topshop Christmas 2008

Last weekend Kate discussed her latest collection for Topshop and explained the influences behind it. Today we can reveal several pieces from the line including the panther dress and a floral blazer. The panther dress (£100) still remains as my favourite piece from the new collection but I'm not sure about the wide-leg trousers. The items hit stores and online on Tuesday 28th October. Trend Alert: Leopard Print Scarf

The leopard print scarf trend is by no means a new development. Kate Moss rocked the style back in 2007 along with Sienna Miller, Ashley Olsen and Jessica Simpson, and this Autumn it's back with a vengeance. A few weeks ago Kelly Osbourne marked the beginning of a cooler season with hers, and yesterday Trinny Woodall and Coleen Rooney showed off theirs. The list of celebs is seemingly endless but I guess what you really want to know is where can you get your hands on the scarf?

Most of it's celeb fans have the original Louis Vuitton scarf (£375) I'm sure it's soft and luxe, but sadly this would set me back a month's rent. Luckily I found a great alternative at Topshop (£16) that won't make you part of the credit crunch.

This weekend Kate Moss revealed her Christmas line to the Sunday Times Style magazine. On British Style Genius we saw how Kate took her favourite vintage items to the Topshop design team to essentially copy and reproduce for the masses, but in this interview she talked about the direct inspiration for her next collection.

One of the key pieces is a limited edition full length blue sequined dress which was inspired by her 30th birthday vintage dress (above middle). Kate explains, "I later found out that the dress I wore that night was owned by Britt Ekland, and she wore it to the premiere of The Man with the Golden Gun. It is intricately covered in midnight-blue sequins, so we have only produced 10 of the full-length version." The full length version will retail for, a slightly shocking, £400 but a shorter version will be widely available for £130.

Fab Worthy: Ear Hat by Peter Jensen for Topshop

The latest designer collaboration to hit Topshop comes from British based designer Peter Jensen. He has been showing at London Fashion Week since Autumn 2006 and is famed for his quirky yet wearable designs.

The young design talent has done a capsule collection for the High Street giant which includes five dresses, shoes and hats. The dresses are very pretty but I really fell for this ear hat! It's fun and so Katie Grand.

I recently bought some Minnie Mouse ears with the intention of wearing them to a party but plans changed and ever since I have been thinking of an excuse to wear them. Now I'm thinking that maybe this hat would be enough. What do you think of the quirky headwear?

Celebrity Style: Fearne Cotton at BBC Switch Live

Fearne Cotton hosted the BBC's underage music festival BBC Switch Live over the weekend at the Hammersmith Apollo. The Radio One DJ stuck to a monochrome palette for her ensemble which included sparkly ankle socks over her tights (how amazingly '90s). Love it or Hate it? Sequined Leggings

This weekend has left me seriously contemplating disco leggings. On Friday night Claudia Winkelman sported a pair of sequined leggings on the Jonathan Ross Show and then Paris Hilton wore a pair to the Diesel xXx party in London on Saturday. This pair of midnight blue sequin leggings (£38) from Topshop. Although initially the idea of them seems terrifying, the reflective nature of the sequins might actually be quite flattering. I would contrast the shiny sequins with a slouchy knit for a fun daytime ensemble. What do you think of the leggings?

On Our Radar: Alice McCall for Topshop Autumn 2008

Australian designer Alice McCall is back at Topshop with her second line for the High Street giant. Her summer collection was one of my favourite High Street collaborations so I'm very excited for her Autumn line.

The Autumn line, which became available yesterday consists of 3 dresses and a skirt all including McCall's classic fun prints. Price range is quite low starting at £38 for a skirt to £65 for a kimono dress.

My personal favourite is the bow dress (£60) which would be perfect for day to night wear; simply change your shoes from flats to heels. What do you think of the pieces?

Fab Watch: British Style Genius, A Fashion Democracy

Last night saw the airing of the first episode of British Style Genius which is a documentary looking at the best elements of British fashion. Here is a quick recap of the episode although if you missed it I strongly recommend catching up on Iplayer.

The series began with a look at Kate Moss for Topshop and it's impact on the High Street. They showed an amusing board meeting where Kate and Sir Philip Green sat discussing the sales of her autumn line for the store. We rarely ever hear Kate speak so it was intriguing to hear her Croydon tones. Sir Philip explained that the sales were good so Kate joked, "Hoorah, I've still got my job then?"

This autumn's favourite trend, tartan is just starting to emerge on the High Street in the form of jackets, trousers and skirts. As I am attempting to not appear to the outside world as a full victim of fashion (even though you dear readers know the truth) I have decided to merely hint at the trend. Hinting at trends is easiest done through accessories so why not indulge in a tartan/plaid handbag?

Ralph Lauren featured the designs on the catwalk in various forms from satchel to tote but if you cannot afford the designer price tag then the High Street has some great alternatives.

London Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Topshop Unique

The Topshop Unique show is becoming a standard London Fashion Week opening day show. Its popularity is testament to the stores ability to cross over into the mainstream and this season's show was attended by UK celebrities Peaches Geldof, Alexa Chung and Roisin Murphy.

Hemlines were high for Spring 2009 as retro '80s prints adorned t-shirt dresses and Jean Paul Gaultier inspired baby-grow jumpsuits. Acid-wash denim appeared in bright red and dark blue. They also promoted dark denim tops and bottoms, broken up only slightly by a printed t-shirt and headscarf.

The collection was targeted to teens, however, it hasn't stopped me lusting after this temperature printed vest!

At the Topshop Unique show yesterday, girls about town Alexa Chung and Peaches Geldof snapped up front row seats at the label's London Fashion Week event. Alexa is working her trademark black winged eyeliner look with a hint of colour on her lips. She has her hair tied back with a severe middle parting. Peaches looks more glamorous, although I'm not sure about the two tone colour of her hair at the moment. However, I do really like her fresh-faced makeup look. On Our Radar: Kate Moss for Topshop Hits Stores

Whatever people say about Kate Moss for Topshop, she must be doing something right as today we see her launch her sixth capsule range for the store. The continual demand for her designs proves that whether the critics like it or not, consumers still want to copy her world-famous effortless chic style.

As predicted, the latest collection is vintage inspired with '60s style dresses, faux fur boleros and a fringed jacket that Ms Moss has already been spotted in.

Moss continues to grace magazine covers (including this month's Vogue) and even admits herself that she knows what young women want to wear. Speaking the Wall Street Journal magazine she commented, "I've been in fashion for such a long time that I knew what I wanted and how clothes should be. I'm not the sort of fashion designer who goes 'Oh this is going to be the new thing'— I just wear what I wear and girls like that."

Last month I asked you if you would wear leather trousers following their appearance on the catwalk at Givenchy. Most of you were willing to try the trend but now that it has hit the High Street I wanted to find out how you felt about these trousers.The leather zip trousers (£95) are from Topshop and feature an exposed zip. On Our Radar: Topshop Launch Deer Friend Collection

Of course we all love Topshop but if there is a negative side (at all) it is surely that you get sick of seeing people wearing the same items as you!

Well, now those clever people at Topshop have even found a way to work round that! In September they will launch the Deer Friend collection which is a limited edition range of five key pieces including ruffled blouses, flirty skirts, bow decorated tops and knitted cardigans costing around £35 each.

It will literally be a case of once it's gone, it's gone! All of the items will feature cute deer motif or cherry detailing and a new range will be released once a month. The Deer Friend line will be available exclusively instores.

If you're missing your Kate Moss fix as she continues to holiday (reportedly in Ibiza) then you'll be excited to hear that her sixth collection for Topshop has a release date! The Autumn/Winter line is due to arrive in store and online on Tuesday 9th September. Ms Moss put the finishing touches to the collection in mid-July. Fearne Cotton was spotted leaving Radio One this weekend that was so packed with High Street items that I'm beginning to wonder whether she is to be the next face of Topshop.

She wore a plain white t-shirt which states 'Love My Bones' with a so-on-trend-it-hurts lace bolero and added colour with red boots and a maroon handbag.

Celia Birtwell's long running collaboration with Topshop is one of the most successful High Street/designer collaborations out there. Using her iconic vintage prints, she creates beautiful pieces for the store which look like they should have a designer price tag. I personally am a huge fan of both Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell so am always excited to hear that another of her collections is hitting stores. This Autumn her line is even better with cut-out detail and huge flapping sleeves. Prices range from £50 for a blouse to £100 for a jumpsuit.

Fab Flash: Kate Moss for Topshop to Head to China?

I wish that I could report that Kate Moss was in some way related to the Beijing Olympics but sadly this story holds no link with the current sporting event. That said, I think that Ms Moss should consider designing for athletes with financial aid from Sir Philip Green, imagine how that might look, actual luxe sportswear! Anyway, I digress.

The real truth behind this story is that Sir Philip Green has spotted another money making opportunity claiming that they could make £25 million by exporting Kate Moss for Topshop to China. Rumour has it that Sir Philip is currently involved in plans to buy a space in the Shanghai Superbrand Mall.

The population of China is 22 times that of the UK and the country is currently experiencing a slight financial boom. Kate Moss helped launch the High Street store in New York and is expected to do the same in China. You can see why she needs more money, after all Forbes predict that she only earned $7.5 million last year...

Fab Flash: Leona Lewis for Topshop?

I can honestly say that this is one collaboration that I did not see coming. Following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Leona is said to be in talks with Sir Philip Green to create a line for the High Street giant.

Leona has great girl-next-door qualities and is set to be a huge star on both sides of the Atlantic (as is Topshop following it's recent US launch). A source apparently told The Sun that Leona has a meeting with Sir Philip at the end of the month. “He knows she is emerging into one of the world’s top pop stars and wants to discuss her doing her own Topshop range."

Although I've never spotted her wearing anything particularly ground breaking, you could argue that Kate Moss only ever wears jeans and boots. What do you think of this possible collaboration?

Trend Alert: Exposed Zips

Exposed zips have been on the catwalks for a few seasons. They originally appeared at Lanvin as Alber Elbaz created beautifully feminine dresses where your attention was seductively drawn to the thick visible zip at the back.

Initially there was some confusion, as though the dress was not quite finished, but then they began to emerge all over the fashion spectrum and a trend was born.

Zips appear on both the front and back of garments to become a feature of the item rather than simply a function. In Topshop this season you will struggle to find a dress with a hidden zip as it quickly becomes the focal point of dresses, skirts and tops.

It definitely gives items a punky edge and with all the tartan around next season your wardrobe is sure to feel very '70s very soon...

Back in May we told you that glamorous lingerie house Fifi Chachnil would be creating a capsule collection for Topshop. Well, the wait is nearly over with the pieces due to hit stores next week on 28th July.

We couldn't resist sharing these '50s pin-up images with you from the ad campaign. It shows off beautifully the range of pieces which will be on offer for a fun lingerie look. Using fabrics such as lace and soft tulles the range includes babydolls, basques and garters.

Trend Alert: Tartan

Classic heritage fabrics such as tweed, tartan and checks featured heavily on the catwalk for Autumn/Winter. Leading the way was British designer Henry Holland who created his own tartan pattern and based his entire House of Holland collection on the indigo fabric. The most memorable piece was a tiered tartan dress modeled by Henry's BFF Agyness Deyn. Dolce & Gabbana produced a D&G line inspired by our very own Queen with neatly tied head scarves and midi-length tartan skirts. The trend has already begun to take over the High Street with Topshop particularly pioneering the style. See below for some items already available.

Fab Ad: Jourdan Dunn for Topshop

We've already drooled all over the new Topshop collection and planned our outfits but here is the icing on the cake. New Brit it-model Jourdan Dunn (who recently starred on the cover of Vogue Italia) is the face of the latest Topshop ad campaign alongside Karlie Kloss. The girls are showing off their London style on a buses and tubes for the 'Topshop on the move' theme.

Topshop's creative director Ronnie Cooke-Newhouse, explained, "We wanted the campaign to have a very London vibe, sticking to Topshop's roots. And Topshop girls are movers and shakers - super-stylish, cool girls." We couldn't agree more! See below for images from the campaign.

On Our Radar: Topshop Launch Premium Denim Area

If you thought that you had to go to Selfridges to get a great range of jeans, think again as Topshop opens a premium denim area. The flagship Oxford Circus store from August will stock jeans by the likes of Sass & Bide, J Brand and Dittos to name but a few.

There are also plans for capsule collections designed with some of the top denim brands for the autumn months. I am particularly excited to see what J Brand will design for the store.

Finally, during September's London Fashion Week there will be a pop-up denim clinic at Topshop's Oxford Circus store offering you advice on fit and styles ensuring you get the best from your jeans.

Kate Moss was in cold water yesterday over the possibility that she upstaged Leah Wood on her wedding day. However, she apolgised by paying for a second honeymoon for the couple! La Moss was out and about in London yesterday showing off her famous pins and doing a spot of self-promotion in a piece from her Topshop collection. Be Your Own Model Scout at Topshop

Has reading our Graduate Fashion Week coverage left you yearning to be a model but not sure where to start? Well, instead of waiting for Sarah Doukas (founder of Storm) to knock at your door why not stage your own shoot at Topshop in the Helmut Netwon photo machine! The machine landed instore on Tuesday and has already proved to be an enormous hit.

Newton developed his Newton Machine in the early Seventies and now Topshop have paid homage to the classic photographer with their own version at the Oxford Circus flagship store. Shoppers can use the machine for free with nail touch-ups by Nars and a rack of TopShop clothes at their disposal. The stylish photos will then appear on the Topshop website. It will be in London until Sunday 15th before travelling to Manchester (17th-22nd) and Dublin (17th-22nd).

Fab Worthy: Topshop Victoriana Leather Jacket

Just when you think the leather jacket trend might be heading out, twists on the classic shape start to emerge. Victorian leather jackets are popping up every where. There is no collar and they are shaped at the bottom. This jacket is part of the Kate Moss for Topshop range and I have been lusting after it for a while. I saw a girl on the tube wearing it with a floaty chiffon dress which was perfect. It's quite pricey for Topshop (£150) but very soft leather. What do you think?

I'm sure you're aware that the power clutch is a key accessory this season. There are pros and cons to this trend, the pro is that you can actually fit useful things in it without having to make sacrifices over key accessories (lipstick or powder?) but the con is that you have to carry it around all evening (obviously this is true of a small clutch too but it is usually less weighty). This red and black studded clutch (£30) really reminds me of Michael Jackson's Thriller video so in turn terrifies me slightly. However, don't let my childhood fear put you off. What do you think?

On Our Radar: Danielle Scutt for Topshop

Designers for Topshop season is in full swing. Last week Alice McCall launched her long awaited line of pretty dresses and skirts and today is the turn of Danielle Scutt. Danielle has only presented two solo collections at London Fashion Week. She graduated from Central St Martins in 2005 so to already have a line for Topshop is a great achievement.

The line consists of denim pieces from the denim shirt dress to jeans and funky tops including a tiger print body and sheer t-shirt. Prices range from £28 for the body top to £75 for a denim jacket.

Back in March I told you about Alice McCall's plans to design for Topshop. Well, the highly anticipated collection by the Australian designer is finally in stores and online today. The line is feminine but slightly quirky featuring bold prints and funky shapes.

The pixelated floral prints used appear alongside a monochrome pallet for florals that are wearable for even the least girliest girls. Prices range from £35 - £60, many of the items have already sold out online but all the pieces are still available from the Oxford Circus flagship store. On Our Radar: Kate Moss for Topshop High Summer

The sixth collection by Kate Moss hit stores this morning containing plenty of pretty summer dresses. She recently spoke out about her status as a style icon claiming to have a "thrown together look." The highlight of the high summer line is the sure-to-sell-out red pansy dress which has appeared in many publications. It is also available in purple but is quite pricey at £60. Also, the strappy folk printed dress (£45) is great, and perfect festival wear. There are a few tops in the new collection including pretty blouses and delicate cami tops.

There are lots of pairs of her trademark shorts including vintage silk short (£35) which would be hard to pull off. As always, let us know what you think of the collection, especially if you have already bought anything!
