Madonna to be New Face of Louis Vuitton

Madonna, who has been mingling with Posh and Becks in the wake of her recent divorce plans, may have a new gig. There have been rumours for the last week or so that the material girl may be starring in the Spring 2009 ads for Louis Vuitton. This week, however, the UK press are running with the story and it seems that Madonna is indeed set to be the new face of the luxury French fashion house.

Apparently photographer Steven Meisel will be shooting the campaign and not Mert and Marcus as previously expected. Meisel was the photographer for Madonna's infamous Sex book back in 1992 as well as working with her in the May issue of Vanity Fair. Madonna looked amazing on the cover of the magazine so no wonder if she chooses Meisel to collaborate with her for the Louis Vuitton ads.

At the moment Louis Vuitton's spokespeople are refusing to comment at all on the campaign. Personally though I think Madonna will work well as the face of such an established and luxury brand. How about you, what do you think of this news?

Lydia Hearst Models For French Playboy

Socialite, model and occasional Gossip Girl actress, Lydia Hearst is just one in the latest line of model beauties to strip for French Playboy. The American is certainly used to showing off her body as she's also the face of the luxury lingerie label Myla. Following in the footsteps of Lily Cole and veteran supermodel Helena Christensen, Lydia features in the magazine's November issue.

Lydia has bagged the cover of the men's publication's special thirty-five year anniversary issue. The model may recently have quit as Page Six's guest columnist but she's certainly staying busy. The black and white cover, which features Lydia peering over the top of some plastic-rimmed sunglasses has a definite Lolita-esque feel to it.

Her skin and figure look typically amazing, but I'm not sure about that flicky black eyeliner. There is something too harsh about it that doesn't quite fit with her sexy yet innocent image here. How about you, what's your opinion of Playboy's choice of Lydia for their cover?

Myleene to Host 10 Years Younger

After wowing us with her chic dress sense, in a white and black lace frock at the National Television Awards, Myleene is set to be gracing our TV screens more often. The mother, Marks and Spencer model and presenter of Miss Naked Beauty with Gok Wan has a new gig. She is going to be hosting the popular makeover show Ten Years Younger, taking the helm from Nicky Hambleton-Jones on the hit Channel 4 series this autumn.

The former Hear'Say singer recently revealed she'd like to have more children, but it seems that she's planning on combining motherhood with her sparkling career. Myleene is all set to be the face of the show, which gives prematurely-aged people life-changing makeovers. Personally, I've always felt slightly dubious about the programme, which seemed to focus on people getting cosmetic surgery in order to increase their confidence. However, this series, which will return as 10 Years Younger: The Challenge, sees less emphasis on going under the knife.

Myleene told The Sun,

"It’s a privilege to present such a well established show that makes a monumental difference to people’s lives. I have been filming for the past few days and already there are so many jaw-dropping, heart-warming moments. Like everyone, I can’t wait to see the transformations, as well as picking up some great tips."

Fab Ad: Gisele for Dior

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen has landed another modeling contract which begins the ball rolling for the Spring 2009 campaigns. Gisele will be the face of Dior for next season which was confirmed on her own blog earlier this week.

Gisele appeared in the Dior ads for Spring and Autumn in 2004 (pictured here) which was shot by Nick Knight. She has now flown to Paris presumably to shoot the campaign for the new season. She takes over from Daria Werbowy who is currently appearing in the Autumn ads.

Isabeli Fontana to Replace Natalia Vodianova For Chanel

There are plenty of rumours flying around today that model Isabeli Fontana will replace Natalia Vodianova as the face of Chanel Beauty for Spring 2009. Chanel have neither confirmed nor denied the rumours, but 25 year old Brazilian model Isabeli was quoted on Fashion Spot talking about flying to Paris to shoot the campaign. Meanwhile NY magazine The Cut has ran with the story, stating that Natalia has been knocked off the Chanel campaign to make way for Isabeli.

Earlier this year Natalia and Isabeli both won the Versace ad campaign and it was suggested that the choice of two (relatively) curvy supermodels and mothers was a bold move for Donatella. Personally I think Isabeli is a great choice for Chanel's seriously seductive Spring line, but lets not write off Natalia just yet. What do you think of this news?

Cast your mind back to July when rumours were circulating about Pixie Geldof doing a collection for High Street store New Look. Although the rumours are not exactly true, Pixie is the face of the latest New Look ad campaign!

The young London party girl is modeling pieces from New Look's Limited Edition range which includes slightly more luxurious items than their standard range including this faux fur coat with bracelet sleeves.

The collection ranges from punk to pioneer with dresses, coats and denim pieces as well as a few accessories.

Kate Moss is Lipstick Artist

While Kate Moss has recently been sporting pink hair around London, this model isn't all about the partying. As well as designing collections for Topshop, being the face of Rimmel and launching her second fragrance this summer, Kate is now adding modern artist to her CV.

A self-portrait by the supermodel sold this weekend in London for £33,600 to a mystery buyer, after it failed to command £40,000 at auction. The piece was created by Kate using red lipstick while she was dating Pete Doherty. It features her lip prints as well as Pete's bloodstains. Pete has also written across the canvas "Who needs blood when you've got lipstick?"

Pete originally sold the portrait to an anonymous seller, who then placed it up for auction. An additional self-portrait by Doherty, signed in blood, was also put up for sale in the auction but a buyer could not be found.

Well that's one way to buy Kate's kisses I guess. I'm just left wondering which lipstick she used to create the image. What do you think of her art?

Fab Blab: Daisy Lowe

This weekend the Observer Magazine caught up with Fab favourite Daisy Lowe. The model, who is rumoured to have broken up with Mark Ronson this weekend, is currently back in London for fashion week. She has also recently been revealed as one of the faces of Agent Provocateur.

Daisy is often out spoken about her role in the fashion industry. She complains that they only want super skinny girls and in this interview she was quite explicit about her feelings.

"The thing is I'm not teeny-weeny stick sample size so I don't want to go along to the cattle castings and not fit into any of the clothes. Show size is very small and I eat doughnuts and Red Velvet (cupcakes). I love curvaciousness. Curvy girls are the sexiest girls. If clothes were built for curvier women, which is most of the population, one: people would look better; two: designers would sell more clothes, and three: they wouldn't have to use tiny anorexic models."

She also talks about what she was like before she became a model. "I loved chemistry and psychology. I won a chemistry quiz and got given a forensic scientist's uniform. I was 15. So at the same age as doing all this science stuff, I did the Agent Provocateur perfume campaign and I did get a Saturday job, in AP. I worked in the store room upstairs, but I still got the pink uniform."

Reading the interview left me wishing Daisy Lowe was my best friend! It's so refreshing to hear of somebody so level-headed in the modeling industry, particularly a model who is under so much pressure to conform. Daisy hinted that she'd soon move back from New York to London because she's "bored of planes".

Ellen DeGeneres is The Latest CoverGirl Star

Talk show star Ellen DeGeneres is to join a whole host of supermodels, including Christine Brinkley, as the new face of Covergirl makeup according to recent reports. The fresh-faced comedian who just married her girlfriend Portia de Rossi is apparently shooting the campaign this week.

Ellen, who usually wears minimal makeup, is a somewhat surprising choice for the brand, but as they try to garner the support of an older market she will be working alongside model Christie Brinkley who was the original face of CoverGirl cosmetics. Christine originally promoted the brand for two decades and has now been rehired to enhance the public profile of their new line which is aimed at an older target market.

Ellen will be following in the footsteps of Drew Barrymore and Rihanna who have been previous spokespeople for CoverGirl. Whilst I admit that I would never have expected the down-to-earth Ellen to be chosen as the face of a cosmetics brand, on retrospect I think it's a pleasing match and it's certainly refreshing to see brands using celebrities in the same age bracket as their customers.

Agyness Shows Off New Bob

Just when we thought that New York Fashion Week couldn't show us any more hair surprises, Agyness Deyn stole the limelight from Victoria Beckham by unveiling her brand new bob yesterday at the shows. It's typical of on-trend Agyness to have updated her look, just when it seemed everyone was copying her crop.

This new, short, yet sharp cut looks striking with Agyness' bleach blonde colour and has a retro feel that brings to mind the flapper girls of the 20's. It's also more groomed, feminine, shiny and polished than her previous spiky, street-chic cut.

The haircut debuted at the Michael Kors show and was teamed with matte red lipstick and dark brows. I really like it, however, I'm sure it won't be long before she changes it again — the the girl does love to experiment.

It's Official: Max Factor Hearts Gisele

So it appears that the rumours have turned out to be true. Whether you love or hate her ad – it's official; Giselle is the new face of Max Factor.

The iconic makeup brand will be 100 next year, and to mark their anniversary the famous Brazilian super will be pouting and preening in their ads. In addition, Max Factor have got legendary make-up artist and catwalk guru Pat McGrath on board to create the looks for the Gisele campaign.

Pat is famed for going all-out to create extra-spectacular catwalk-esque looks and has worked at the Stella McCartney and Christian Dior shows, to name just two. To work alongside Gisele and Pat McGrath, Max Factor have also signed up famous fashion photographer, Nick Knight, to capture the magic of this centenary collaboration.

According to E! Online reports a while back, it's rumoured that Gisele has signed a two-year, $2.5 million deal to endorse Max Factor's products. So she's rich and beautiful? No, of course we're not jealous.

Patrick Demarchelier on Perfect Princess Diana

Fashion and portrait photographer, Patrick Demarchelier, who has worked with some of the world's most beautiful models, including Naomi Campbell and Elle Macpherson, has revealed that today's society is too "perfection-obsessed" and has taken issues with the photographers and image-makers who "want to turn all women into models".

He tells The Telegraph "That's where they go wrong, I like it less and less. I never touched my pictures of Diana."

Those iconic pictures of Diana, where she looks both in control and sweetly vulnerable, with plenty of her typical coyness, are now part of a thirty-year retrospective at Paris's Petit Palais, the capital's museum of fine art.

About Diana, he tells The Telegraph "I remember when she first contacted me. I had done a picture for Vogue in which a model was opening her coat to show a picture of a little, laughing boy tucked into the inside pocket. The boy was, in fact, my son, and Diana, maybe because of her little boys, loved that picture so much that she got in touch. We became friends. She was funny and kind - but fundamentally she was a very simple woman who liked very simple things."

Demarchelier's ease at getting his subjects to relax and trust him are apparent in the personal pictures of the late Princess of Wales.

He says "Diana didn't pose like a model, and I had to work at getting her to relax. But I knew what I wanted because I had seen paparazzi pictures of her laughing, and that was when she was at her prettiest."

Calvin Klein's new fragrance – Secret Obsession – hits beauty counters across the country today, and we're sure Eva Mendes, the face of the scent, is basking in the sweet smell of success.

Eva stars in the perfume's controverisal ads which were banned in the US, for being too sexy. Never one to shy away from controversy, Eva was defiant after the ban, saying "it makes me more proud".

Secret Obsession's cool bottle pays homage to the original '80s Obsession, whose ads featured a youthful Kate Moss.

Secret Obsession is a stronger, more floral perfume than the original, however. Notes of plum, jasmine, tuberose, wood, amber, vanilla and sandalwood make it a seductive, womanly scent that dovetails nicely with Autumn/Winter's focus on grown-up glamour.

Australian model Gemma Ward has been branching out recently taking acting roles in major films. She has already starred in both The Strangers and Black Balloon.

Pedestrian magazine is today claiming that Gemma Ward is close to officially retiring from modeling. They say that she is retiring to pursue her Hollywood acting career.

I think that Gemma is a great model and looks amazing in editorials for fashion magazines. Here she is pictured on the catwalk at Valentino where she looks gorgeous.

The retirement has not officially been announced yet but it's been rumoured for a while. We wish her luck in Hollywood!

Beauty Girl Crush: Lydia Hearst New Face of Myla

American model Lydia Hearst has just been made the new face - and body – of luxury lingerie brand, Myla.

I love the modern take on retro beauty in this pic – with coiffed waves, that still look a little unkempt and bright red lipstick. Her 40s Hollywood makeup and pale skin are the perfect complement to the vintage, pin-up style underwear.

Lydia is the daughter of famous publishing heiress Patty Hearst, who gained notoriety in 1974 when, following her kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army, she ultimately joined her captors in furthering their cause.

As a super-connected heiress herself, Lydia was first discovered by fashion photographer Steven Meisel, and has graced the cover of style bible Italian Vogue, amongst others.

As well as modeling, you may remember seeing Lydia in Gossip Girl, where she appeared as Lily van der Woodsen's posh interior decorator, Amelia, in the finale of season one.

She also writes as a sometime columnist for the New York Post's Page Six.

Sixties Supermodel Penelope Tree

Penelope Tree was the IT girl of the 60s, and is often considered to be the very first supermodel. Despite a recent Burberry campaign, where she models alongside, Kate Moss – Penelope has shied away from the press for the last thirty-five years, but gave a rare interview to the Observer Woman magazine, yesterday.

Discovered at age 17, at a party held by Truman Capote, Penelope went on to model for Vogue and become the muse of photographer David Bailey. When asked to describe her in three words, John Lennon is said to have replied "Hot, hot, hot, smart smart smart!"

Her kooky, ethereal style and wide-eyed, strong-cheekboned, beauty epitomised the flower child and free love vibe of the period. But, Penelope tells the Observer, she didn't really see it like that at all:

"I felt quite fraudulent because I am not a classic beauty," she says, "not now, not then. Like lots of models I felt insecure about the way I looked. We know too well that it's a lot to do with disguise and how you put yourself together."

Penelope also talks about about running from agency to agency, with her model book, as "being a piece of meat. They would discuss your body as though you were not there. But I was a model and that is what you do."

She is wise and self-depreciating in the interview, and has a self-knowledge which I wonder if any of today's models, will have when they're fifty-eight. On how she feels about losing her youthful looks, she tells the Observer "I feel like it has all gone but you might as well live". Good advice, for all of us, whatever age.

Following in her sister's footstep Solange Knowles has been signed as the face of Armani Jeans. Beyoncé Knowles is already the face of the Emporio Armani Diamonds fragrance but soon the whole Knowles family will be Armani clad.

In a statement, Giorgio Armani said,

"Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool, fashion sensibility. Solange epitomizes this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, 'I Decided."

Solange is currently embarking on a European tour when she will visit London and Cannes so expect a lot of product placement.

Britain's Missing Top Model Winner Revealed

This week the winner of the controverisal BBC disabled modeling competition Britain's Missing Top Model was revealed. Yesterday I asked if you were happy with the result but today we can reveal one of the images that appears in this month's Marie Claire magazine.

Kelly Knox beat Sophie in the final to take the prize which included a photo shoot with top fashion photographer Rankin. This photo is taken from the shoot and shows Kelly's disability (which she personally does not class as a disability) which is that she is missing part of her left arm.

I think she looks beautiful and I can definitely imagine her gracing the pages of plenty more magazines in the future. What do you think of the image? You can see the latest Marie Claire cover featuring Mischa Barton here.

Carla Bruni Sarkozy is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair this month, for their special September style issue, photographed by Annie Leibovitz.

The ultra stylish former model, and singer, is looking typically polished. I am in slight awe at the shininess of her hair.

Carla has a fresh-faced, natural approach to beauty that often comes after years of modelling. I also like the fact she doesn't pretend to be a girl without a past. The Italian beauty dated Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, amongst others, before marrying President Nicolas Sarkozy, in February.

"It's not that I had a lot of lovers, Carla tells Vanity Fair, "it's that I never hide them. It's a different thing."

When we covered the final of Britain's Next Top Model some of you expressed annoyance at me revealing the winner so if you haven't watched Britain's Missing Top Model yet, fear not I will not reveal the winner just yet. The episode started with the three remaining girls Sophie, Kelly and Jess. They had to do a difficult photoshoot with a photographer Amelia who did not appear to understand the point of the programme. She expressed the inconvenience of working with disabled models which came across a little insensitive. Another girl was then eliminated before a nude photo task after which the winner was chosen. People are often left divided by Lily Cole but I really like her and think she photographs beautifully. Interesting news then that she has been revealed as the November coverstar of French Playboy.

The British model has already appeared on the catwalk for Agent Provocateur (pictured) but is clearly stepping up her game as she prepares to bare all for the French publication.

The magazine is very sophisticated and elegant so will no doubt reveal Lily in an artistic manner rather than in a trashy way. French style icon Lou Doillon has already appeared in the magazine.

We're very intrigued to see the pictures, I bet Jude is too...

In this week's episode of the slightly controversial model competition Britain's Missing Top Model the girls had to make an ice-cream TV advert. Deaf model Kellie Moody (top left) is unable to speak clearly and felt the task was unfair on her. She argued that as Sophie was allowed to go down the catwalk in her wheelchair that she should be allowed to sign rather than speak in the TV advert. She was eventually asked to film the advert using both forms of communication and it was clear she was more comfortable with signing. But did you think that she should have been made to speak? Kate Moss and Gisele Are Last Supermodels Says Naomi Campbell

Not known for her shy and retiring ways, Naomi Campbell has been stirring up controversy – guest editing the Mirror's 3am page and giving her opinions about other models.

"I think the term 'supermodel' gets thrown around too much nowadays," says Naomi, "Models need to earn their stripes - I just think the term is used a little too loosely."

Lily Cole and Agyness Deyn apparently just don't cut it in Naomi's book. "Kate Moss is obviously a supermodel but after Gisele, I don't think there's been one."

Along with Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista, Naomi was one of the original supermodels and has recently been chosen to be on the cover of Vogue Italia's All Black issue.

She's certainly not one to stay away from controversy, last month Naomi claimed British Airways staff were racist to her, and has recently tried to move away from her bad gal image, by being involved in charity projects, such as planting trees in Nigeria with designer Ozwald Boateng.

Daisy has a cool fresh look, which is sure to inject a dose of edginess to the high-street favourite brand.

The new collection is apparently a combination of ‘Grace Jones meets Goth Victoriana’ and will also incorporate aspects of Daisy's personal style.

Kate Moss is gracing the cover of American Vogue, this month, for their special Age(less) issue. Wearing a wool, Louis Vuitton dress, Kate certainly looks elegant, but I have to admit it's strange to see her looking so grown up.

I've become accustomed to seeing her smouldering in fashion campaigns, having a laugh at parties, or roughing it, in boots with shorts, at festivals. Not so much ageless, as an eternal teenager, perhaps?

Celeb Style: Coco Sumner

Yesterday I asked if you thought Coco Sumner was channeling Alice Dellal with her BT party ensemble. The daughter of Sting wouldn't have looked out of place at a festival in her outfit (aside from the heels).

Coco was ticking plenty of trend boxes including nautical, tartan and cut off denim. I like how she softened the look with knee-high socks and open toe heels.

Personally, I wouldn't have worn nautical and tartan together but I think that Coco pulls it off. The Barbour jacket has long been on my radar as it's fan base includes Lily Allen and Alexa Chung. I personally can't get past the smell of the fabric but I do like the way it looks.

Last night BT partied in London bringing together the usual party girls including Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof, Alice Dellal and Coco Sumner. Coco, who is the daughter of Sting and has featured in a Burberry ad campaign is reported to be recording an album with the help of Pete Doherty! Last night Coco seemed to channel fellow model Alice Dellal's style by wearing her hair flicked dramatically over to one side and showing off her pins. Last night's episode of Britain's Missing Top Model saw a double elimination following a '50s style pin-up shoot. Tensions rose in the house as girls struggled to understand each others disabilities. At the end, the panel of judges had quite harsh criticism for the girls including telling Lilli that she "looked like she is carrying a few extra pounds". Do you think the comment was unfair? The show, Britain's Missing Top Model is being shown on BBC3 and aims to fill a void in the modeling industry which does not reflect society. A panel of judges which includes Wayne Hemmingway and Marie Claire editor Marie O'Riordan will have to decide which of the eight hopefuls is best suited for a role in the fashion world. Alice Dellal is lining up a busy year for herself. She has already been announced as the new face of Agent Provocateur following a dispute between Agent Provocateur and Lily Allen, and today it was revealed that she would be the star of Mango's denim line.

She is the daughter of Brazilian model Andrea Dellal and BFF with Lizzie Jagger and is quickly becoming famous for her quirky, rock style and edgy haircut.

However, she has not won over all the press. The Guardian featured her in The Measure this weekend stating, "Alice Dellal Aka the new face of Agent Provocateur. Another totally random punk-rock party girl with a strange haircut - just what the world needs." Ah well, you win some you lose some!
